Meet Johnny Under. He longed for magical new worlds and a life of heroic adventure. He
dreamed of fighting off impossible monsters to rescue the princess, under the hurtling
moons of Mars. Or else he wanted to be handed the ancient sword of power from the
upthrust emerald hand of the Lady of the Lake. He wanted to walk the Glory Road, with
Oscar, Rufo, and Star.

But when he got his wish it turned out nothing like he’d ever imagined. The only
princess he found was a deadly rival, and hardly in need of a rescue. Even in a world of
giants, trolls, elves, sorcerers, and dragons, he never thought he’d end up back in the Army, low man in a rifle company, marching all day, digging latrines and doing KP at night. It
could hardly be worse… until it suddenly got much worse when the enemy arrived.

Along with his tiny mercenary company, Johnny found himself trapped, cut off from
the safety of their home fort and any hope of relief. Surrounded by bloodthirsty warrior
zealot elves numbering in the tens of thousands, each one sworn to rid their world once
and for all of the alien human infestation, there was scant chance Johnny would get out of
this alive.
