He’s another idea Bill needed to draw, to get the image down on paper. It seems drawing Jack also got the image out of his system. Who is Jack Pharaoh? He’s a supernatural investigator, with ties to ancient Egypt and the mummified pharaohs of old. He draws some of his weird powers from them, even though they are long departed. He fights for good against evil, usually in the magic realms. Now then, why is the price so high on this one simple illustration? Let’s ask Bill:
Bill says, “I wanted to try an experiment in my online store, to make it just a bit different from anyone else’s online stores. So then, here’s the deal: Not only are you buying the original art for this character design, you’re buying all rights to the character, the image of the character, and anything you choose to do with the character. You buy him, you own him.”
If this works, Bill has promised to offer up other characters and art that includes ownership and publication rights.
One caveat with this purchase: All uses of the character will have to include the following notice (which can appear in small print, if you like): Jack Pharaoh created by Bill Willingham.
